We sat down with Tea For Two’s Executive Producer, Fiona Cairns and chatted about her career, love for design and that Royal Wedding cake…

Fiona Cairns was established over 25 years ago, after Fiona made a batch of miniature fruit cakes for friends one Christmas. Trained as both a graphic designer and a pastry chef, Fiona’s cakes were both beautiful and delicious – there was nothing like them on the market at the time.

Fiona’s husband Kishore suggested she market them, and so Fiona Cairns Ltd was born. Their first order was for the Conran shop, the rest is history! A barn was converted into a bakery in Fiona and Kishore’s garden, where a small team of bakers and decorators met orders from Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason.

They now make over 2 million cakes every year, and meet orders from Waitrose, Harrods, Selfridges, and Le Bon Marche in Paris, as well as selling their own cakes online. On the journey from kitchen table to busy bakery, they have maintained their commitment to creating beautiful, handmade cakes.
