Mini Productions along with the BFI, Raindance, MOFILM, TMFF and Swan Warf Hackney Wick was a proud partner of The Reel Film Challenge 2016.
Sara Huxley and April Kelley from Mini Productions were two of the judges on the film festival panel in Budapest, alongside Noel Goodwin (BFI Future Film Festival), writer Phil Dyas and director Mark Price.
The awards ceremony was exciting, raucous and positively triumphant, with some amazing films being recognised. In addition to the top three prizes (Judges Choice, Audience Choice, and The Reel Award), additional awards included the ‘Award for Best Production’ and ‘Director’s Choice Award’.
Mini Productions also offered an internship for a selected filmmaker, giving them the opportunity to learn through more about the industry through work experience on their film sets throughout the coming year.
What is The Reel Film Challenge?
Reel is the ultimate creative adventure for aspiring filmmakers in Europe. Successful applicants travel from the launch event in London to the finish in Budapest whilst planning, shooting and editing their own short film ‘on the road’.
Reel gives brave, bold, ambitious filmmakers an opportunity to break free from their daily routines and get inspired by the world that’s out there.
Keep up to date with all things Reel here.
At Reel they believe that adventure inspires creativity. Will you have your best ideas sitting behind a desk, or out exploring the real world? They embrace the unexpected, so they’ve kept your options open. There’s the Launch in London, and the wrap party waiting in Budapest, but in between it’s completely up to you – it’s your adventure!
You’re free to travel however you like, shooting your film en-route. So whether you fly, cycle or skateboard, via Paris, Berlin or Belgrade, the only limitation is your own imagination. We can’t wait to hear your stories when you arrive in Budapest, so be ambitious, enjoy the ride and surprise us!
